Victorian Stick Residence

A variation of the Stick style, this 4,800-square-foot Victorian in Sewickley has been restored to its peak grandeur after Studio St. Germain executed a comprehensive interior renovation.

Each of the three stories underwent significant upgrades that preserve and enhance the aesthetic charm of the original Victorian design.  Adding a mudroom and laundry area to the ground floor brings a practical component to the house while a new wet bar augments its livability factor. The newly streamlined kitchen stays true to the character of the historical style, balancing a modern look with the existing proportions, retaining and complementing the decorative trim and elegant molding throughout.

On the second floor, a completely redesigned master bedroom now includes a walk-in closet.  A stylish bathroom, with a white-and-chrome color scheme and a hexagonal floor pattern, completes the layout.  The top floor was radically transformed from a cramped den into a master suite with a dramatic pitched roof, a new walk-in closet, and an en suite bathroom featuring marbled tiles and brass-colored hardware.

With an exterior that is quintessentially Victorian—gabled roofs, a dormer window, shingles, and a generous porch with detailed columns—this Stick-style treasure now boasts an interior that evokes the Romantic American past as well as streamlined contemporary design.
