Nathan St. Germain, AIA, CPHC, RESET® Air AP

Principal

Nathan St. Germain studied architecture at the New Jersey Institute of Technology and a decade practicing in New York City. In 2012, Nathan moved to Pittsburgh, where he founded Studio St. Germain based on his philosophy of “Building to give back.” Since arriving in Pennsylvania, Nathan has established Studio St. Germain as a leader in high-performance building and progressive design. His interest in the relationship between architecture and the public good is reflected in a wide variety of projects that emphasize the environment, health, and comfort. His work is characterized by rigorous design, a collaborative spirit, and a commitment to human values.

Nathan is a licensed architect in Pennsylvania and New York and is a Certified Passive House Consultant (CPHC) and a RESET Accredited Professional. His work has been recognized in numerous publications and has won multiple design and building awards. In addition, Nathan has participated in the Rockefeller 100 Resilient Cities Program and is a contributor to the Pittsburgh Climate Action Plan.


Benjamin Nahum, Assoc. AIA, CPHC

Architect I

A Pennsylvania native, Ben has worked for Studio St. Germain since 2017, applying his building-science expertise and his analytical skills to a wide range of high-performance projects, including 400 Beaver, the Sewickley Tavern, and the Greensburg Residence. As a Certified Passive House Consultant (CPHC), Ben also aspires to transcend sustainable principles by enriching lives through health and wellness elements.

Ben earned a Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) from Pennsylvania State University, where he won the Stuckeman School Creative Achievement Award in 2021, along with Design Excellence Awards in 2019 and 2021. In 2019, Ben won the Arthur V.K. Anderson Jr. Award for academic excellence.


Brian Gardner

CADD and Design Technology

With over fifteen years of experience, Brian brings a precise sense of detailing, a keen interest in building science, and a unique technical perspective to his work with Studio St. Germain. Brian earned an associate degree in CADD and Design Technology from Triangle Tech in 2007 and has since honed his drafting skills on a wide range of building types.

Prior to joining Studio St. Germain, Brian spent eight years with Franus Architectural Associates. His notable projects for Studio St. Germain include the Sewickley Tavern, 400 Beaver, the Wilkinsburg Residence, and the Sewickley Residence. In his spare time, Brian constructs wood furniture.


Carlos Z. Acevedo

Marketing and Communications

Carlos Acevedo has worked in several administrative capacities for architecture firms dating back to the 1990s, including Michael Graves and Associates. At Studio St. Germain, Carlos ensures that our message of sustainability, energy efficiency, and health is clearly and effectively presented.

He works closely with Nathan St. Germain on marketing strategies that highlight the unique personal, social, and environmental impact of high-performance buildings.
