FIRM PROFILE
Studio St. Germain is a progressive, award-winning architecture firm specializing in human-centric design - architecture that puts people at its heart. At Studio St. Germain, we are passionate about architecture both as an art and as a public good. We adhere to a humanistic philosophy where community values are integral to the design process and reflect our core belief: building to give back.
Our High Performance Program transcends traditional definitions of sustainability to include well-being and productivity. By integrating several disciplines into one, a high-performance building operates as a carefully calibrated environment where aesthetics, sustainability, energy efficiency, and health intersect, resulting in a better quality of life for individuals.
Studio St. Germain has appeared in several publications, including Public Source, Quartz, Pittsburgh Magazine, Breaking Ground, and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. In 2021, our Sewickley Tavern project won a Certificate of Merit from the AIA Design Pittsburgh Awards for its responsible design, its elegant style, and its performance-based metrics. In 2023, the Master Builders Association named 400 Beaver as a finalist for its annual Building Excellence Awards program.
As an innovative full-service firm, Studio St. Germain offers close collaboration with clients from the concept phase to the completion of a project, and our unique Environmental Performance Quotient (EPQ) matches clients with their most important design objectives.
Guided by our passion for architecture that allows people to thrive, our experienced design team views every project as an opportunity to reimagine the nexus of sustainability and aesthetics. By creating healthy environments—while also producing beautiful structures—we aspire to improve the lives of their occupants.
Studio St. Germain supports the community through volunteer service for several committees and organizations. Nathan St. Germain was a co-founder of Passive House Western Pennsylvania and is the former Chairman of the Sewickley Borough Planning Commission. He has also been an invited contributor to the City of Pittsburgh Climate Action Plan and the Rockefeller 100 Resilient Cities Program.
