Calgary Residence II

This 12,000 square foot residence is perched atop a hill in the Canadian Rockies. The family’s strong connection to the site, their love of the English Arts and Crafts style, and their desire for an appropriate backdrop for their collection of antique furniture informed the design. The east elevation faces a courtyard nestled into the foothill and provides a sense of shelter against the severe Alberta weather. The west elevation opens up to the spectacular view of the mountains. The extensive glass of the west facade, the linear arrangement of rooms, and the placement of the wings ensure a view from every major space in the house.
